- Offer strategic guidance, planning and partnership working.
- Support the East Midlands FESCo and college sporting network.
- Strive towards the target of all 16-19 year olds completing a minimum of 3 hours
of sport or physical activity per week. - Raise the profile of FE sport throughout the region
fund a Regional Sports Strategy Co-ordinator with the remit:
- to be an advocate for sport in Further Education (FE) and to
raise the profile and share best practice. - to encourage joined up working and increasing provision by developing
relationships with key partners such as National Governing Bodies (NGBs), County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) and local groups such as Community Sport Networks (CSNs). - to act as a regional co-ordinator for FESCos by developing county working groups/task finish groups and sharing best practice, advice and funding.
- to drive the development of and enhance college-based recreational sport
enrichment programmes and competitive opportunities for students aged 16-19. - to support, train, develop and deploy sports leaders, volunteers and officials
aged 16-19, through existing programmes such as Step into Sport. - to act as the main link person for the college engaging with the SSP and local
sporting infrastructure, through CSPs, NGBs and CSNs.
