The Association of Colleges (AoC)The AoC exists as the essential, influencing voice of colleges.
The East Midlands regional arm of the organisation represents member
colleges on a whole range of topics and has a Sports Strategy Steering group.
This group has resulted in all AoC East Midlands Colleges agreeing to fund a Regional Sports Development Manager for FE Sport, with a remit:
Key Objectives:
- Offer strategic guidance, planning and partnership working.
- Support the East Midlands College sporting network.
- Strive to increase participation for 16-19 yr old students in FE Colleges.
- Raise the profile of FE sport throughout the region.
- Improve communication links within the sector and with key partners

- To be an advocate for sport in Further Education (FE) and to raise the profile of sport both within the sector and to key partners.
- To encourage joined up working and increase provision by developing relationships with key partners such as National Governing Bodies (NGBs), County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) and local groups such as Community Sport Networks (CSNs).
- To act as a regional co-ordinator for communication, sharing best practice, offering advice and guidance and sourcing and managing funding streams.
- To develop a strong communication infrastructure via county/regional working groups, virtual networks and project specific focus/task and finish groups.
