People in Lincolnshire can try all of the Olympic and Paralympic sports with a new 2012-inspired programme, Quest for Gold. Quest for Gold gives individuals aged 16 plus the opportunity to take part in all of the Olympic and Paralympic sports at clubs and leisure providers across the county. From archery and rowing to sailing and shooting there’s something for everyone. Participants can take part in as many or as few of the 30 sports on offer, and the programme runs from now until the end of July 2012.
Individuals across Lincolnshire are already signing up to the programme, but Lincolnshire Sports Partnership hopes that 2,012 people will sign up by the Games next year. Quest for Gold costs £5.00 to sign up, but after the initial payment the majority of activities will be completely free (some may ask for donations for equipment if required), and 50% of your sign-up fee will be directly donated to the Lincolnshire Elite Athlete Programme (LEAP) which supports local, talented sportspeople. Even though the programme is for people aged 16+ years there is scope with some of the sports to bring younger friends and family if this is pre-arranged with the particular club/provider.
Quest for Gold has been developed by Lincolnshire Sports Partnership as part of the 2012 Games Legacy Strategy for Lincolnshire.
