Degrees in Sport
There are a range of degrees in the sport, exercise and fitness field. An honours degree typically takes 3 – 5 years to complete and is usually studied at university either on
a full time or part time basis.
Degrees are designed to give you a thorough understanding of your subject, also developing analytical, intellectual and essay report writing skills.
In order to get onto a degree course in sport, exercise or fitness you need to have appropriate
qualifications. For many students this means the traditional route of GCSEs and A levels at school or college.
One of the many problems however in this area is that many graduates continue to struggle to find
employment due to the sheer numbers going through the system. Despite the increasing number of job opportunities in sport exercise and fitness, the number of graduates is also growing making competition
for jobs intense. Therefore you should try and take every opportunity to develop yourself whilst at University, by getting involved in activities that will enhance your career prospects.
There are a wide range of sports courses available at a range of institutions from Applied Sports Science to equine Sports Science and Sport Turf to Sports massage, which can help your chances of gaining a job in the sport sector.
