The British Colleges Cross Country event for the East Midlands took place at Mount St Marys School near Chesterfield on Friday 20th January 2012. The course was a traditional course over fields with a significant hill which was a challenge for all the athletes who participated in the event.
South Nottingham College students Paul Corbin and Matt Williams are currently studying BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport. Paul is currently completing his second year, while Matt is half way through the first year of the two year course. Both students represent Notts AC and the college and Paul has now achieved success for the second year in succession in this competition. 
Both athletes coped well with the wet conditions and qualified within the top eight, Matt finished 2nd and Paul finished 5th improving on his performance last year.
